It was last year that we kick started a huge £4.5 million project across 12 of our UK hotels to lower their carbon emissions. The works include the replacement of gas guzzling boilers with super-efficient heat pumps, new more efficient air condition systems and improved metering.
The works have been progressing well with Ipswich, Liverpool and Milton Keynes already complete and Sheffield and Glasgow soon due to be finish. As well as the low-carbon works, Glasgow has benefited from a full refurbishment with new rooms and refreshed communal areas.
The finishing touches are being made to plans for the remainder of the UK hotels due to receive low carbon works at Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Shoreditch and Oxford with the works expected to complete by the end of the year. Similar low-carbon works will start later this year for some of our hotels outside of the UK with an additional €1.5 million investment.
These low-carbon investments are a great example of how we take reducing our carbon emissions seriously by investing in our older hotels; introducing newer, greener technologies. Low carbon, equals low cost.
