When talking about easyHotel in The Netherlands, you cannot not talk about Anton Boot. He is working for the company for almost seven years! At the start of his easyHotel journey he was solely responsible for the maintenance of all the Benelux properties. He drove from hotel to hotel to keep up with the work. In due course, the team grew and Anton started focusing on the hotel in Rotterdam.
Even though Anton lives in a small town nearby the City of Feyenoord, at birth and at heart he is a ‘Rotterdammert’. He owns the Less Talk More Action mentality and he is always ready to roll up the sleeves of his tattooed arms. He is easy to get along with, he doesn’t like fuss and he has a great sense of humor. In other words: you could hardly wish for a better colleague.
Unfortunate for us, we are now looking for A New Anton. For another MacGyver who loves to search and puzzle for solutions when they are not ready-made. Maybe even someone who shares his capability to talk about food in such a colorful way that it makes your mouth water and you actually want to invite yourself to dinner.
Fortunate for him, he will soon enjoy his well deserved retirement! And we are so happy for him! So happy in fact, that we were looking for special ways to show our gratitude and appreciation in a farewell party. While our thoughts were running away with us (would fireworks be too much?), Anton brought us back to reality.
Anton doesn’t like big get-togethers (he has never been to a company event). Anton doesn’t need to be shown gratitude (that’s what pay slips are for). Anton doesn’t care for flowers (he hates them). Anton doesn’t like surprises (and he will turn around and go home if he were to be surprised). We could have known; Anton doesn’t like fuss.
So, don’t worry. Since we are very fond of Anton, we’ll respect his character. We simply hope to continue working with him for one last more month, and we will enjoy every minute of it! Without bothering him with our ‘it’s-hard-to-say-goodbye-drama’. No fuss. We promise. We try. Other than that, we’ll just talk about him. Nothing but good.
Dear Anton, enjoy your retirement! Have fun working on your motorbike, painting, fishing, travelling – or whatever it is you decide to spend your time on. Make the most of it! We wish you the best!
