In our first easyTeam profile we’d love to introduce you to Katarzyna Piecuch (Kate), the Hotel Manager at easyHotel Edinburgh.
Kate joined the team at easyHotel as a Housekeeper in 2018. After impressing in that role she was promoted to a Reception role in 2019 and has since progressed to Head Receptionist and Assistant Manager, taking over as Hotel Manager in August 2021.
The Edinburgh team have overcome the challenges of lockdown and covid-isolations and reopened fully last year a few months before Kate took the helm. She now manages a team of 8 including Housekeeping.
Kate says that her favourite thing about easyHotel is that she has the autonomy to make changes and improvements. ‘If I see something that can be improved then I want to do that’ she told me. She particularly enjoyed the recent project to replace all the duvets and pillows for the property as this has delivered a real improvement in the product, and she’s always happy to roll her sleeves up and help with the housekeeping if needed, she has first had experience of this area after all. Sometimes being Hotel Manager feels like ‘being an Octopus and doing everything’ she says!
Lone working is a challenge when it comes to covering sickness and other absences, but Kate says she has a great team in place with lots of students, who help each other out when needed.
Originally from Poland, Kate feels that she has ‘found her happy place in Scotland’ and even loves the weather!
We look forward to seeing easyHotel Edinburgh go from strength to strength and also seeing where Kate’s easyHotel journey takes her.
