easyHotel partners with BBCA to create a new sustainability label specifically for the French hospitality industry.

The BBCA association is a leading French organisation who has put in place methodology to reduce low carbon emissions in the real estate. work with a wide range of businesses to help keep their buildings carbon emissions low. Members from the easyHotel development team have been collaborated with the BBCA alongside other industry leaders to adapt the existing BBCA label system specifically for the hotel industry. And now after much work from the BBCA, easyHotel and the other partners, the new BBCA label has finally launched.  3 labels exist: new build, renovation, and operation.

The BBCA label is not just a label but a comprehensive framework that guides hoteliers like us in adopting low-carbon practices across construction, renovation but also various aspects of our hotel's operation. It emphasises the importance of using low-carbon materials, efficient use of space, and the integration of eco-friendly practices. This accreditation aligns with our commitment to low carbon, covering all hotel categories and setting new industry standards for carbon performance management per room. It's an endorsement of our dedication to promoting good low-carbon practices and managing our carbon footprint.

Now the label has been created, our development team are working on rolling out the new label across our French hotels. Labels by organisations such as the BBCA and BREEAM are very important as they not only help us reduce carbon (which also reduces cost) but they are getting more recognition. Just this March, Booking.com changed the way they recognise sustainability on their website, now requiring hotels to have labels in order to be identified as sustainable on their site.

We’ll keep you updated as to the roll out of the new label at easyHotel.
