easyHeroes Desi Janzen

Introducing Desi Janzen – Desi works as a Front Office Supervisor at the Zaandam easyHotel and was recognised in January for a nomination for the 'Learning by Doing' category at the annual Award Ceremony held in January.

Desi’s easyHotel story began as a security guard in the Amsterdam Arena hotel in September 2021, enjoying her role at the hotel, she eventually moved into the Front Office Receptionist position. As Desi grew into her role she gathered more experience working in the easyHotels in Amsterdam and Maastricht. She particularly enjoys the opportunity to work in different locations, especially when it's busy. The mornings in City Centre and Zaandam and the evenings in Arena are her favourite shifts! 😊

In her first year, Desi showed what she can do and more importantly, what she wants to be able to do: grow and become a Supervisor. And so, she did! She was promoted to Supervisor in September 2022 and since then, she is even more motivated and working hard alongside Jan Kafoe. This successful collaboration resulted in the nomination for Desi at the awards ceremony.

Desi says she was shocked by the nomination, but also happy to be recognised by her colleagues for what she does at the hotels, with this being her greatest motivator. She likes getting to know people, discovering what they are good at and managing them. Desi also enjoys solving problems and is always available to help.

For now Desi is happy as a supervisor. In her own words, she still has plenty to learn from in this position. Her advice: "Master the experience and show that you want to go for it. And in the meantime: be as flexible as possible,".
